Research Notes: Husband - James Kirk
Apparently, there were two men named James Kirk who lived around the same time. Both settled in Virginia. One or more of their sons had the same given name. One James Kirk immigrated to Virginia in 1773. The other may have immigrated as early as 1749. The latter is probably the James Kirk referenced below.
From http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=allenjkirk&id=I12214 :
"In July 1774 James Kirk is recorded as being a member of the First Committee of Public Safety in Virginia, a body chaired by George Washington and which did much to influence the course of Virginia prior to the Battle of Lexington. Later he was appointed to the Committee of Correspondence, a unit in the Committee of Public Safety. Today he is accepted as a Patriot."
James Kirk the patriot may have been married to Mary Agnes (Agness) Edmiston, then, after Agness' death, to Jean ________. This James may have come to America as early as 1749, when the name "James Kirk" appears in Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia, Vol. 3, p. 273 purchasing 400 acres from James Bell and Rachel.
The other James Kirk (possibly the father of "our" Robert, and possibly also of John, Alexander and Matthew) may have never come to America, dying in Northern Ireland. His son James, Jr. may have remained in Ireland as well.
Because the Kirk name appears so frequently in Virginia court records, along with the names of spouses, it is difficult to determine which man was the father of Robert Kirk, ancestor of Carol Jean (Kirk) Fish.
Chronology of Kirk family members named in Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia, Vol. 3:

Joplin, Missouri.
Research Notes: Husband - Joseph Paschal Fish
All historical and family records give his full name as "Joseph Leander Fish". The middle name of "Leander" is his paternal grandfather's first name. "Cornstalk" is not a family name, and "Blackfish" was not used as a family name except by children of Chief Black Fish (1725-1779). It was not used by descendents of William Jackson Fish, who was an adopted, white son of Chief Black Fish.

Research Notes: Wife - Lillie < >
Lillie is listed in the 1920 household as "wife" and is possibly the mother of Joseph Leander Fish, born in 1917.
Birth Notes: Child - Joseph Leander Fish
The Social Security Death Index gives his birth place as Colorado. However, census data have Oklahoma.
