He Began to Decline When His Wife Passed Away
Amandus Lerch, the aged farmer of Bethlehem Township, departed this life last evening at 5:15 o'clock at the old homestead on the Easton Road, two miles from Bethlehem, aged about 71 years. Ever since the death of his wife, two years ago, he has been declining in health and ten weeks ago took to his bed.
The deceased was a member of that branch of the Lerches that came from Forks Township and is a distant relative of the Lerches of this place, of Lower Saucon and Kreidersville. He purchased his farm in Bethlehem Township 50 years ago and has resided there ever since. He was well known in the Bethlehems, where his death will be learned with regret. He is survived by one son, Lovine Lerch, who resides on the farm, and the following daughters: Mrs. Albert Koehler, Mrs. Thomas Wartman, Mrs. Milton Koehler and Mrs. George Wenner, all wives of farmers in Bethlehem Township.
The deceased was a member of the Reformed Congregation of the Altonah Church. The arrangements are being made for the funeral to take place on Monday morning at Altonah.
Amandus married Elwayna Marietta Gold, daughter of Johannes Gold and Maria Magdalene Stocker.
