A descendant of Ephriam Poapst - John Poapst - was living in San Diego, California, in 1968. Wayne Poapst relates the story that his father (Lloyd Poapst) spotted "John Poapst, San Diego" as a writer in the Reader's Digest and guessed that John was a relation and sent him a letter. "...the John my father wrote to was of the Ephriam Poapst family - John Poapst of San Diego, CA wrote back to dad in May 1968 - he said the post office traced him because his name was in the phone book (at that time, over a million people in the city and suburbs). ⁶
