William Adams, Sr. was one of the first settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, he came to America in the spring of 1628. He was of Cambridge in the Massachusetts Bay Colony on 22 May 1639, when he was made a freeman. He was a commoner of Ipswich, Massachusetts on 31 Jan. 1642. He frequently served as a juryman, almost on a continual basis until 1659. William Adams received a grant of twelve acres on 27 Feb 1644. He later purchased an additional nine acres from William Payne on 19 Jul 1654. He was discharged from compulsory military service of the Colony on 28 Oct 1647, due to his age.
