![]() Hans Jensen (1858-) |
Hans Jensen 1
Another name for Hans was Hans Jorgensen. General Notes: As the story goes, fled to Pacific Northwest because of a murder charge, along with his brother Chris. From a letter by Donald Johnson, son of Marine Johnson, 8/17/1972: "There is another family legend that I hope to trace in respect to either Uncle Hans or Uncle Chris. The legend is that one of them killed a man when they were immigrants in Kankakee [Illinois], then took off before he could be thrown in the Bastille and lived the rest of his life on the 'lam' so to speak. My father [Marine] and Anthony finally traced these two of their brothers to Eugene, Oregon but Anthony probably knew all the time where they were but wasn't talking." Birth Notes: Son of small farmer Jens Christian Jensen and Ane Cathrine Hansdatter. Noted events in his life were: • Census: Denmark, 1 Feb 1860, <Asaa, Dronninglund Sogn>, (Broenderslev-Dronninglund), Nordjyllands, Denmark. 3 Household: • Census: Denmark, Feb 1870, Hals, Kaer, Ålborg, Denmark. 4 Jens Christian Jensen, 48, married, house father, b. Dronninglund sogn, Hjørring amt. • Confirmation, 7 Apr 1872, Hals Kirke, Hals, (Aalborg), Nordjylland, Denmark. 5 The family residence was probably in Hov. |
