Brought up in Ipswell and styled himself as "of Ipswell" by marriage he was associated with the town of Brandbury" [McNamara, Danvers Mem'l p 84]McNamara in Danvers Memorial, shows the first of the family in England was Roland de Alvers dating back to the Conquest, p 42f. Ancient Norman village named Alvers from which they came and derived their name.


Richard married Agnes Brancestre, daughter of Sir John Brancestre of Colthrope and Margaret Mile. (Agnes Brancestre was born in 1374 in Oxfordshire, England and died in 1395 in Colthrope Manor, Banbury, Oxfordshire, England.)
