Sir John Haryngton settled at Farleton, in Mellin parish, and married Katherine, sole daughter and heir of her father Sir Adam Bannister, Knight. Sir Adam was beheaded in 1315, and Katherine was his fourth daughter and co-heir of her mother Margaret, sister of Sir Robert de Holland, father of the first Lord Holland, founder of the Priory of Up-Holland in Lancashire. Katherine was nurse to Queen Philippa, wife of Edward III.
