Name Lauritz Johnson from published obituary of John J. Johnson d. 1929. First and last name may not have been Lauritz Johnson originally. Some family oral traditions hold that the name was originally Jorgensen. The death certificate of his son J. J. Johnson gives his name, probably provided by his grandson William J. Johnson, as "Lauretz Johnson."
Mark Johnson (May 2012) has a good amount of information about the family of a Lauritz and Caroline Johnson, who lived in Gibson City, Illinois after immigrating to the United States in 1880. It is likely that those persons are this same family. That family was from Schleswig-Holstein, which makes sense, as there is some confusion about Denmark vs. Germany, and the town of Bov (Bau) in which John J. Johnson was born is in Schleswig, which changed hands over the years. The 1910 U.S. census shows J. J. Johnson immigrating in 1881.
U.S. Census records indicate that Lauritz and Caroline had 12 children.

Mark Johnson has found evidence that Anna Dorothea Caroline Caspersen, born July 1835, christened 9 Aug 1835 in Bov, Flensborg, Schlesvig, Denmark, married Lauritz Jorgensen, b. 1831, on 28 May 1854 in Bov, Schlesvig, Denmark. We are making the assumption that this is the same couple.
Birth Notes: Child - John Jacob Johnson
1900 Census has John J Johnson and his parents born in Germany. Mary reported born in Denmark. Census has born August 1844, which differs from the obituary. His obituary has his birthdate as 15 August 1854. Mark Johnson has a source with 27 August 1854. It is my guess that 27 August 1854 was the date of his christening.
Obituary says "Bau, Denmark," but there is no such place. However, "Bau" is the German for Bov in Sonderjylland (South Jutland) county on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. The main town is Padborg. Since Bau/Bov was held by Germany from 1864 to 1920, that explains the discrepancy. Bov was Danish at the time John Jacob was born.
The city of Bov (German Bau) in the area of Flensborg in Denmark was the site of the Battle of Bov, which began the First Schleswig War on 9 April 1848. Schleswig-Holstein was trying to separate from Denmark. Danish troops defeated a combined force of German, Austrian and Prussian troops. The First Schleswig War lasted from 1848 through 1851, resulting in a Danish victory. The Second Schleswig War erupted on 1 February 1864, when Prussian forces crossed the border into Schleswig. That war ended on 30 October 1864, when Denmark ceded the duchies of Schleswig, Holstein and Saxe-Lauenburg to Prussia and Austria. The Schleswig Plebiscites in 1919 and 1920 resulted in the return of the Aabenraa district to Denmark.
Death Notes: Child - John Jacob Johnson
Died in St Marys Hospital in Fort Dodge. His residence was in Paton, Iowa. He was a retired farmer at the time of his death. The handwritten notes on his death certificate are difficult to decipher. The best guess is that he was in the hospital from 25 Sept 1929 to 29 Sept 1929, with death about 8:50 p.m. Exploratory surgery had been conducted on 28 Sept 1929. The immediate cause of death was shock due to surgery after attempting relief from an obstruction having to do with his liver (?). A contributory cause was "carcinonotisis."
His death certificate gives his parents' names as Lauretz Johnson (b. Denmark) and Carloine Casperson (b. Germany). The informant was Wm. J. Johnson [his son] of Plover, Ia.

Mrs. Lena Johnson Hansen, wife of H. C. Hansen of Corvallis, Oregon, died Friday, November 2nd, at a hospital there following a short illness.
Mrs. Hansen was born in Denmark, April 12, 1874, and came to the United States with her parents in 1882, the family locating in Gibson City, Illinois. In 1889 she went with her people to live in Humboldt county, Iowa, and in 1891 to Stewart county, Nebraska, where she was married in April, 1892, to H. C. Hansen. In 1894 the couple moved back to Iowa and resided there until 1926 when they and their family moved to Corvallis.
She was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive with Mr. Hansen. They are John C. Hansen of Aberdeen, Wash; Mrs. Pearl Mill of Humboldt, Iowa; Mrs. Margaret Anderson of Thor, Iowa; Mrs. Laura Edge of Humbol.dt, Iowa; Harry S. Hansen of Iowa City, Iowa; and Mrs. Edna Jones of Corvallis, Oregon. One daughter, Mrs. Mae Underberg, died in 1924. Mrs. Hansen is also survived by ten grandchildren.
She was a member of the Baptist church at Humboldt and for a number of years was active in that denomination.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, November 5th, at 1:30 o'clock in the First Baptist church of Corvallis, with the Rev. Mathews officiating. "Near My God to Thee" and "One Sweet Solumn Thought" were sung by Mr. Blacstone. Rev. Mathews recited part of "Crossing of the Bar." He said tht in the far-away land the sun was setting and he knew the thoughts of those who couldn't be with their dear mother were turning westward with the sun and he knew God's blessing would shine on them as brightly as the setting sun. The body was laid to rest at the Odd Fellows cemetery.--Conbtributed

Marriage is speculative.
There is a baptism record for Maren Jorgensen, 12 November 1834 in Svenstrup, Åbenrå-Sonderborg, Denmark with father Jorgen Christensen Sorensen and mother Helena Nissen. The date and place appear to tie to Lauritz Jorgensen/Johnson, whose marriage record gives his father's name as "Jorgen Christensen Or Sorensen" with mother's name Helena.
A Maren Jorgensen, with father Jorgen Christensen was married to Vilhelm Sivert Jocob Casspersen in 1860 in Svenstrup. It is, of course, possible that there were several persons with similar names in the Åbenrå area around the same time, but I'm making a guess that Maren Jorgensen and Maren Sorensen are the same person. Both were born in 1837.

"Jacob was in Berks County, KY until 1764, then appears in NC in 1773. As early as 1775, Jacob is said to have been one of Daniel Boone's men who carved out the 'Wilderness Road' in Kentucky. In 1779-1780 he was in Kentucky where, with Daniel Boone, he recorded in Border Warfare. Jacob was killed by Indians while on a scouting expedition and is buried under a hickory tree at Bryant's Station, Kentucky. His wife and children were at Bryant's Station during the Indian seige in 1782. Jacob was known as 'Indian Jake'."
